Your criminal record will stay with you for the rest of your life. Every arrest, even if you were not convicted of the crime, can show up on your record. Employers, banks, government institutions, and firearms dealers may check your criminal record. Removing the history and record of these arrests or convictions can open up doors and help you move forward.
Pennsylvania allows certain criminal arrests, charges and convictions to be Expunged (removed) from your criminal record:
Pennsylvania Criminal Code Sections:
A new Pennsylvania law, effective in November 2016, will no longer punish individuals who were convicted of non-violent misdemeanors over ten years’ prior by leaving them with a permanent criminal record. The law allows for certain misdemeanor convictions to be sealed from public records. If you are free from arrest or prosecution for ten years following a misdemeanor conviction, our attorneys can help seal the record of your conviction from potential employers. Non-violent misdemeanors graded as second or third degree, or ungraded misdemeanors with a maximum penalty of less than two years are eligible for record sealing. This process is slightly different from the process of expunging your criminal record, as sealed records are still available to government and law enforcement agencies. Call us today for a free consultation to discuss which charges can be expunged or sealed from your record.

DO NOT TRY TO DO AN EXPUNGEMENT YOURSELF!
Our Expungement attorneys will petition the court on your behalf for review. Generally, courts take up to 30-45 days to review the petition. The court renders a decision to grant or decline your petition. If your petition is granted, the expungement order will be sent to the various agencies allowing them 30 days to respond.
